Car history: |
Up for sale is a 1970 Corvette Stingray Coupe (original colors were Donnybrooke Green/tan) that has been privately owned for the past 25 years. The car came with automatic transmission, power steering, removable rear window (very cool option) and A/C. We were contracted to do a frame up restoration of this car and after a through examination determined that it was a cost effective project as it was complete with a good frame and bird cage. We were well into it when the owner had a stroke leaving him paralyzed on one side, so its game over for us. As you can see from the before photos it was a well cared for, running, driving car that had never been in an accident since this owner had it. He bought it as a frame up restoration in 1985 which explains how the frame is in such good condition (dont know about the orange paint though, maybe it was cool in 1985?). We disassembled the car and had the paint removed with plastic bead revealing all original factory fiberglass with virtually no damage repair. The chassis is in great condition along with the bird cage on the body as you can see from the photos. We started rebuilding the engine and have the heads done. The block was hot tanked, magnafluxed and checked for cracks and is in good condition as is the crankshaft. The engine was previously bored .030 over and we were just going to ring it and install new bearings as the engine ran well with just a hint of blue smoke under heavy acceleration. All engine numbers that are stamped and casting dates match. The engines rebuild work stopped and the engine was re- assembled in preparation of sale. This engine will need rings, bearings and probably should install a new camshaft, other than that its good to go. The automatic transmission was professionally rebuilt with a shift kit added at a cost of roughly $1,000.00 (have invoice) and has zero miles since. Of course it will need a complete interior. The front bumper is not included with the car since the brackets that are welded to it have rusted through but everything else appears to be there. Several items are new like the fuel tank and sending unit, the gages have been rebuilt and the center console repainted, new exterior door handles, A/C firewall unit has been restored, new A/C Compressor, all latches and brackets etc have been replated, A/C center console switch assembly has been restored. The correct wheels, trim rings and GM center caps are also included. This is an excellent candidate for restoration and will make a correct numbers matching car for its next owner. This car is the very sought after steel bumper Stingray and will rise in value for years to come. This car comes with a clean Ohio title. This sale comes with many disassembly detail photographs on a CD. This car is sold as-is with no returns or warranty. We have shipped cars world wide and can assist with over seas sales.
